About the Shepparton Line Upgrade

The Shepparton Line Upgrade will deliver more frequent and reliable journeys on modern VLocity trains. This project is being delivered in 3 stages.

Stage 1 complete

10 extra train services a week between Melbourne and Shepparton
a stabling upgrade at Shepparton Station
29 extra coaches between Shepparton and Seymour.

Stage 2 in progress

Stage 3 in progress

more stabling for VLocity trains to support more services
track upgrades between Seymour and Shepparton to allow trains to travel faster
further extension of the Murchison East crossing loop to boost capacity on the line.

Next steps

Coleman Rail and KBR are working with Regional Rail Revival and V/Line to deliver the extended loop and larger stabling facility for Stage 3.

A delivery contractor for the track and signalling upgrades will be confirmed in the coming months, subject to procurement, planning and environmental approvals.
