Local contractors and suppliers have taken the chance to learn more about Stage 2 of the Shepparton Line Upgrade and upcoming opportunities to become involved in delivering work on the project at an industry briefing held on Wednesday 17 February.

The online information session, organised by the Industry Capability Network (ICN), featured presentations from the contractors delivering major projects in the Shepparton region – including Stage 2 of the Shepparton Line Upgrade, as well as Inland Rail and the new campus for Greater Shepparton Secondary College.

The session also included a networking segment to boost connections across local industry.

Works packages on Stage 2 of the Shepparton Line Upgrade available for local suppliers will include site establishment, temporary fencing, earthworks, civil works, waste services, boring, service location and more, as well as supply of construction materials and rail equipment.

Stage 2 of the project, being delivered by Coleman Rail in partnership with KBR as part of an alliance with Rail Projects Victoria and V/Line, will enable modern and reliable VLocity trains to travel to and from Shepparton for the first time.

The contractor has carried out site investigations along the length of the Shepparton Line in recent months, including digging nearly 80 boreholes, testing soil and groundwater and locating services along 110km of the rail line, and detailed surveys on various project sites.

Construction on Stage 2 of the Shepparton Line Upgrade is targeted for completion in late 2022.
