Test trains will be running along the Ballarat Line this week while we undertake vital safety testing and driver training before services return on Monday.
Road users and pedestrians are reminded to keep safe around trains, tracks and level crossings during this time.
Running test trains and rail equipment on the line will ensure that the new infrastructure is integrated, and that the system is running safely ahead of services resuming on Monday 2 December.
This includes the testing of the 18km of new duplicated track between Deer Park West and Melton, which will boost reliability for passengers along the entire line and allows the introduction of two new weekday services between Melton and Southern Cross Station.
Major construction on the Ballarat Line Upgrade will be complete at the end of 2019. A period of commissioning will follow next year before the introduction of more new services in 2020.
