Passengers are being asked to plan ahead as work on the Ballarat Line Upgrade ramps up – with construction on the project to be completed by the end of the year.
From Saturday 9 November to Sunday 1 December a major works blitz on the Ballarat Line Upgrade will move construction on the project towards completion by the end of year.
A 400-strong work crew will be out on the line laying duplicated track at the Exford Road (Melton South), Parwan Road and Osborne Street (Bacchus Marsh) level crossings, between Bacchus Marsh Station and the Maddingley stabling facility and on the Ballan passing loop.
Work will also continue on station upgrades at Wendouree, Ballan and Bacchus Marsh and the new station at Cobblebank.
Signalling specialists will be working on commissioning the new track between Melton and Deer Park west, including testing the new track to ensure it is ready to safely run trains on.
Coaches will replace trains between Ballarat/Wendouree and Southern Cross Station, and Ararat and Maryborough services will connect with replacement coaches at Ballarat Station.
Passengers are asked to allow extra travel time and to plan their journey at vline.com.au or call 1800 800 007.
The Ballarat Line Upgrade will enable much-needed extra peak services and trains every 40 minutes in the off-peak. The project will deliver more frequent and reliable services, upgraded stations and facilities, a new station at Cobblebank, and allow for future electrification of the line from Melton to Melbourne.
