Ballarat line passengers are being reminded to plan ahead as major construction on the Ballarat Line Upgrade ramps up during November.
From Saturday 9 November to Sunday 1 December coaches will be replacing trains for all of the journey between Wendouree/Ballarat and Southern Cross Station.
Ararat and Maryborough services will connect with replacement coaches at Ballarat Station.
Crews will work around the clock during this 23-day period to lay new track and continue construction on station upgrades while commissioning, safety testing and driver training also takes place along the line.
Passengers are being advised to allow an extra 45 minutes travel time and to plan their journey ahead at vline.com.au, by calling 1800 800 007 or speaking with a V/Line team member.
Works undertaken during this blitz will deliver two new peak services between Melton and Southern Cross Station, introduce the new Cobblebank Station and commission the 18km of new duplicated track, as part of the staged delivery of benefits on the Ballarat Line.
Coaches will replace trains between Ararat, Beaufort, Wendouree and Ballarat from Saturday 7 to Friday 13 December while we complete major construction on the Wendouree Station upgrade. Trains will continue to run between Maryborough, Ballarat and Southern Cross Station during this time.
Major construction on the Ballarat Line Upgrade will be complete at the end of 2019. A period of commissioning will follow next year before the introduction of more new services in 2020.
