The Rockbank community came out in droves to celebrate the opening of their rebuilt station on Sunday 25 August.

More than 500 people attended, with families treated to a fun day out featuring cricket activities, food and drink, jumping castles, face painting and lots of giveaways.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the official opening of the station with Regional Rail Revival Director, Mark Havryluk and Member for Kororoit, Marlene Kairouz doing the honours.

Guests were able to get a first glimpse of the station which has been completely rebuilt - converted into a modern, accessible station featuring longer platforms, CCTV, a pedestrian overpass with lifts, ramps, stairs and myki facilities.

There was also a chance to check out the new station artwork by Indigenous artist Fiona Clark before attendees put their own artistic skills to the test with easel painting.

Rockbank is the first station upgrade to be completed as part of the Ballarat Line Upgrade, with upgrades also underway at Ballan, Bacchus Marsh and Wendouree. A brand new station is also being built at Cobblebank.

Services resumed at the station on Monday 26 August, with around 150 passengers catching a train at Rockbank on the first day back in service.
