Cobblebank Station

We are building a station for the new suburb of Cobblebank, between Rockbank and Melton, as part of the Ballarat Line Upgrade.

Cobblebank Station will be built in the future town centre of Cobblebank, near the intersection of Ferris Road and the Ballarat rail line. It will help cater for the growing population of Melbourne’s outer west and take pressure off Melton Station.

The new station will include:

  • two platforms connected by an accessible pedestrian link with ramps and lifts
  • sealed car parking
  • drop-off zones, taxi spaces and secure bicycle storage
  • bus interchange and shelters
  • CCTV cameras and lighting
  • a waiting room with toilets
  • covered seating on platforms.

Construction on the station began in late 2018 and will be complete in late 2019.

Community feedback

The local community and stakeholders had their say on the Ballarat Line Upgrade last year, including the new station.

The information you gave us has helped shape the design for Cobblebank Station (which was known during the planning phase as Toolern Station) in line with the growth area’s Toolern Precinct Structure Plan.

What is important to you How the station design considers your feedback
Parking and transport links

Station car parking, bus connections and good pick-up and drop-off zones for easy access from growing residential areas nearby.

Good access for pedestrians and cyclists.

Cobblebank Station will include bus bays to cater for future bus routes. The car park includes dedicated drop-off and pick-up bays close to the station entrance.

Footpaths will connect to Ferris Road and a large forecourt area. The wide pedestrian link between platforms, including ramps and lifts, will connect the station with the future Cobblebank town centre.

The station will include bike hoops and secure bicycle storage.

Safety and security

Safety zones, thorough CCTV coverage, and clearly lit pedestrian platforms and waiting areas.

The station will have comprehensive CCTV coverage, including in the carpark, platforms and station building. All areas of the station will be well-lit.

Cobblebank Station’s waiting room will have clear visibility to surrounding areas and the ticket office.

Station facilities

Accessible myki machines and information displays, adequate shelter from the weather (including covered pedestrian links), waiting areas and toilets.

Cobblebank Station’s waiting room will be climate controlled and include toilets. The pedestrian overpass will be covered to protect from the weather. Platforms will have covered seating areas, and there will also be uncovered seating on the platforms and in the forecourt area.

Information displays and a speaker system will let passengers know when trains are leaving and arriving.
