Upgrade delivers more train services for Shepparton
Posted: 14 Feb 2019
Extra train services on the Shepparton line are just weeks away thanks to the completion of a stabling upgrade at Shepparton Station.
Passengers will have more choice on when to travel, with 10 weekly services being introduced between Shepparton and Melbourne from 1 April.
The upgrade, delivered as part of stage one of the Shepparton Line Upgrade, included track work and the installation of more than 200 concrete sleepers in the stabling yard.
A significant component of the upgrade was changes to the signalling, to minimise disruptions to motorists when trains enter and exit the stabling yard.
The stabling upgrade will allow an additional train to be stabled overnight at Shepparton Station, which means more services can operate on the line.
More than 60 people, including rail workers and project staff, signalling experts, civil contractors and designers worked a combined 4,500 hours to deliver the project.
Construction on the upgrade commenced in October 2018 and was delivered by V/Line on behalf of Rail Projects Victoria.
The new V/Line timetable will be available at staffed V/Line stations and at ptv.vic.gov.au from 1 March.
