Train services resumed with free travel tomorrow
Posted: 02 Apr 2019
We’d like to sincerely apologise to passengers for the inconvenience caused by delays to the resumption of train services on the Ballarat line.
Trains will resume as normal from first service on Wednesday 3 April, after we successfully integrated the signalling system with the new stabling facility at Maddingley.
To recognise the inconvenience Ballarat line passengers have experienced over the past few days, the Victorian Government is providing free travel on Thursday 4 April.
Travel will be free for all passengers travelling on the Ballarat, Ararat and Maryborough lines.
We would like to thank people for their cooperation while we completed the work.
The integration of signalling systems is highly complex work and unexpected challenges can arise, but we will be working hard to ensure this type of unplanned disruption doesn’t happen again.
Trains will start using the newly-built stabling facility at Maddingley, meaning the existing stabling at Bacchus Marsh Station will be decommissioned and work will ramp up on the station upgrade.
We know how frustrating this situation has been for passengers and the inconvenience caused and we apologise unreservedly.
