Traffic changes at Hopkins Road, Rockbank

Posted: 15 Oct 2019

We’re building new track through the Hopkins Road level crossing in Rockbank, as we ramp up construction on the half-a-billion-dollar Ballarat Line Upgrade.

From Saturday 19 October to Tuesday 22 October, Hopkins Road will be temporarily closed to traffic between Sheahan and Greigs roads while work is underway.

During this time, there will be no access to the Western Freeway from Hopkins Road.

Detour routes will be place with access to the freeway from Leakes Road. Southbound traffic can exit the Western Freeway from Leakes Road or Robinsons Road.

Road users are being asked to plan ahead and allow extra travel time.

The work will include laying new track across the level crossing, rebuilding and asphalting of the road around the crossing, and line marking.

The work is part of the 18km duplication of the line between Deer Park West and Melton, which will enable more frequent and reliable services on the line.

Construction on the Ballarat Line Upgrade will be completed by the end of the year.
