New bridge to GROW jobs in Gippsland
Posted: 19 Dec 2018
The three contractors shortlisted to deliver the new bridge over the Avon River attended a GROW Gippsland session in Sale last week to find out more on how to engage local and social enterprises and Aboriginal businesses.
Representatives from Downer EDI Works, CPB Contractors and a Joint Venture between Coleman Rail and Decmil Southern attended the workshop.
Koori elder Uncle Lloyd Hood kicked off the event with a Welcome to Country, explaining the importance of addressing barriers to employment for local Aboriginal workers.
Attendees met with Aboriginal businesses, employment services providers, as well as representatives from Aboriginal organisations and the Gunaikurnai Land and Water Corporation.
Contractors will submit their proposals on how they will deliver the new bridge in January, ahead of construction in late 2019.
