Ballarat line blitz update
Posted: 11 Jul 2019
Construction on the Ballarat Line Upgrade is a step closer to completion following an intensive two-week works blitz.
A 400-strong crew worked around the clock on the line to undertake construction, including lifting a new pedestrian overpass in by crane at Bacchus Marsh Station and beginning construction on the new car park.
The major upgrade includes 100 new car parking spaces, which will ease the pressure on the existing car park and improve accessibility for station users.
At Rockbank Station, work started on construction of new longer platforms and continued on the new overpass and 350-space car park, which will cater for the growing communities in Melbourne’s outer west.
While train services have resumed on the Ballarat line, Rockbank Station remains out of service until late August while its rebuild continues.
Construction on the upgrades will be complete by the end of the year at the end of the year, and will boost reliability and enable more frequent peak and off-peak services.
