Gippsland stabling facility

To enable more frequent and reliable services on the Gippsland line, a larger stabling facility needs to be built at or near Traralgon Station.

We are currently assessing potential sites to determine a suitable location for the facility.

There is still a lot of work to be done before a final site for the future stabling facility is confirmed and your feedback is a valuable input into this process.

We have engaged with the community early in the process to seek feedback on the location of the proposed stabling facility. The feedback we received will inform the options assessment and planning approval process.

What is train stabling?

Train stabling is where trains are parked while not in operation.

While the trains are in the facility they are cleaned internally and prepared for the next day.

A typical train stabling facility operates almost 24 hours a day, approximately an hour before the first train service starts and finishes an hour after the last service ends.
