Shepparton stabling works underway

Construction has kicked off on the Shepparton Line Upgrade, which will deliver more services for passengers by early next year.
Work began on upgrades to the stabling at Shepparton Station, where an additional passenger train will be housed overnight, enabling an extra daily return service between Shepparton and Melbourne from early next year.
Work includes upgrades to signalling and track, building safer access for train crew and improving lighting to assist train inspections.
Construction will continue until the end of the year, as part of stage one of the $356 million project.
Stage two of the project will transform the line between Seymour and Shepparton, with upgrades to level crossings, signalling and track, as well as platform extensions and a new stabling facility enabling faster VLocity trains to run on the line for the first time.
Rail Projects Victoria is also finalising a business case to determine the scope and cost for stage three of the project, which will deliver up to nine return services for Shepparton passengers.
